Xiaomi is set to launch a new smartphone in India on February 14, and it is widely believed to be the Redmi Note 5. The smartphone will be the first major launch for the Chinese company in India for this year, and will have a big responsibility of ensuring the company remains smartphone leader in the country.
Xiaomi is keeping the product details under wraps as of now, but e-commerce giant Flipkart has confirmed that the smartphone will be exclusive to its platform. It should not be a surprise that Flipkart is the official online retail partner considering both the previous Redmi Note series smartphones, including the Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 4 were exclusively available on the Indian e-commerce giant’s platform.
Thanks @gauravkapur. Looks like everyone is excited about @XiaomiIndia’s all-rounder that’s a 5/5. Tune in to Flipkart on 14th Feb, 12 noon to find out who it is. #WhoIsTheAllRounder https://t.co/KO6jyUWq46 pic.twitter.com/z5bDbJIH6n

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 4 in India in January 2017, and its successor is highly anticipated by Mi Fans. Xiaomi launches its products first in China, and then brings them to the Indian market. However, the company has not launched the Redmi Note 5 in China suggesting the device could be a rebranded version of Redmi 5 Plus.
In terms of features, the Redmi Note 5 is expected to feature a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display, and arrive in two storage variants – 3GB RAM model with 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM model with 64GB storage.
The smartphone is expected to be powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC but some reports hint at use of newer Snapdragon 636 mobile chipset. It could feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, and an 8-megapixel front camera. Other details hint at use of MIUI 9 and 4,100mAh battery. The Redmi Note 5 could retail at a slightly higher price than its predecessor due to taller display and improved performance.
