After previously being unveiled at this year’s CES 2017 technology show, Vive has now started shipping out its new virtual reality headset to developers. Enabling them to start testing the higher resolution and new features of the HTC Vive Pro. Developers Owlchemy Labs, the design studio responsible for creating virtual reality games such as Job Simulator and Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality. Tweeted over the weekend that they have now received the new HTC Vive Pro, calling it “the newest member of [their] VR HMD family.”

To recap the HTC Vive Pro now offers an improved resolution over the original VR headset providing a 78 percent increase in resolution jumping from a 2160 × 1200 resolution display to a 2880 × 1600 or 1440 × 1600 pixels per AMOLED display over the original. Check out the quick hands-on video below from CES 2017 to learn more about what you can expect from the Higher resolution HTC Vive Pro VR headset.

The increased resolution and a 37 percent PPI increase when compared to the older Vive VR headset, will hopefully reduce the “screen door” effect even further, which can be sometimes spotted during gameplay in certain VR applications and situations on lower resolution headsets.
